Breastfeeding has many health benefits for infants, children, and mothers. Some studies have found that longer breastfeeding duration is associated with a lower risk of all-cause mortality, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Other studies have found that breastfeeding duration is associated with a healthier diet for children, including more fruit and vegetables.
The decision of when to stop breastfeeding is up to you and your baby. Some babies may decrease the number of times they breastfeed as they start eating solid foods. Around nine months, babies may start to rely more on solid foods for their growth and development.

The American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization also recommend exclusive breastfeeding for about the first 6 months with continued breastfeeding.
